Are you considering an apprenticeship, but not 100% sure that it’s quite what you’re looking for? Do you have a basic interest in practical skills, with a desire to find out more?
A traineeship could be just what you need.
JTL is well known for being one of the leading apprenticeship providers across England and Wales, but that is far and away from being the only service we provide.
We also offer something else you might’ve heard of – traineeships.
A traineeship, perfect for someone aged between 16 and 18, is a pre-apprenticeship programme that gives you all of the confidence and basic skills that you might need to move into a full apprenticeship.
As one of the current traineeship learners in our Birmingham traineeship group puts it: “my traineeship has helped me find a direction and a career path to go into”.
JTL’s traineeship programme includes a number of different things, all designed to help learners take their first step on their career journey. The programme will include work preparation training, such as CV writing and interview techniques, functional skills, to help you reach the equivalent of a C grade in English and Maths, knowledge of the relevant industries, health and safety, tools and mechanical principles, and also four weeks on-site work experience.
This on-site experience can be vital for you in trying to find out what to do with your career, as it offers the perfect opportunity for you to get a taster of what the particular industry is like, and whether or not you could see yourself working in it every day.
Leading employers are now using on-site work experience to add to their workforce, too. Interserve, Wilmott Dixon and Balfour Beatty are all working alongside JTL to provide traineeships for young people, giving them a chance to complete their work experience with reputable, industry-leading companies in the process.
JTL’s 2014 Trainee of the Year, Jon Evans, completed his traineeship with Interserve, and is now in the first year of a four-year apprenticeship with the company.
If you’re interested in a traineeship, we’re recruiting right now in Orpington, Kent, and Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire.
We’re running traineeships across the country, so be sure to enquire online now to register your interest if you’d like to find out more. We can help you with your travel expenses, making sure you can get to and from the training centre and your work experience location.
We look forward to hearing from you and helping you to get your career on the right path!
