JTL Assessment
The next stage of the application process is to take the JTL Assessment. This has been designed and developed by the Basic Skills Agency and will demonstrate whether a candidate has the potential to successfully complete their JTL apprenticeship.
The assessment is in three parts :
numeracy
literacy
aptitude
There is also a short free-writing exercise, which allows candidates to write a couple of paragraphs in support of their application.
Candidates need to pass all three papers at the same time. Only two attempts at the assessment are permitted in any one academic year. So, if they don't pass all three their first attempt, they are only allowed one re-sit, when they must again take and pass all three papers.
Once they have successfully completed the JTL Assessment your client will be placed on the JTL Approved Candidate List.
We will contact them when an Initial Assessment session has been arranged to take place in your local area and invite them to attend. These assessments usually take place between February and August in each academic year. Candidates must make every to attend, it is an important part of the application process. If your client cannot, for any reason, make sure they contact us on 0800 0852 308. If they don't attend and don't tell us, it may be classed as one failed attempt.
If your client has certain learning difficulties we can provide them with some support when they take their Initial Assessment. However, they must tell us about their needs before they attend so that we have time to arrange suitable support.
Your client can request a practice JTL Assessment paper be sent to them or practice it on-line.
