Advanced Apprenticeships are work-based, Government funded, training programmes for young people aged between 16 and 24, which combine the positive aspects of traditional college based apprenticeships with high quality on-site training and assessment, usually taking four years to complete.
JTL's apprenticeship programmes have been purposefully designed to provide young people with the skills required to meet the needs of businesses operating in the building services engineering sector. They are a partnership between JTL, young people, employers and our partner training centres, designed to provide skilled workers trained to meet the specific industry needs.
NVQ

An NVQ is like the practical part of a driving test. It is a way of testing an apprentices practical on the job skills that they need in the workplace. As they progress they build up a portfolio of evidence which shows they have the skills to do the job and you will be assessed on sight by your training officer.

A technical certificate demonstrates the theory side of the driving test. Apprentices study at college and be tested on their theoretical knowledge of their craft.

Finally, apprentices must acquire specific Industry Qualifications that are pertinent to their chosen trade. The precise details will depend on which apprenticeship they decide to pursue.
A JTL apprenticeship is much more than a college course. It's a four part programme designed to ensure that apprentices learn and develop the right skills in the right place so that your business gains maximum benefit.
Apprentices time at college is spent learning the theory and best industry practice, via either block or day release, for their Technical Certificate and Key Skills. They then put that into action on-site, working towards their NVQ, developing their skills in a way that meets the working practices of their employer business.
The local JTL Training Officer oversees everything; ensuring the employer is effectively supported, liaising with the college, mentoring the apprentice and continually monitoring and assessing their progress, all designed to ensure the apprentice successfully complete their JTL apprenticeship.
JTL funds Advance Apprenticeships in the crafts shown above, All are approved by both the industry and Government and lead to NVQ Level 3, the equivalent of 2 A Levels. When apprentices complete their JTL apprenticeship they are recognised by the industry as being fully qualified.
