Our Delivery Model

JTL manages training; this means we do not actually employ apprentices directly. What we do for apprentices is:

  • Liaise with Government bodies, such as the Learning and Skills Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, to arrange apprenticeship funding.
  • Organise and co-ordinate off-the-job training with over 100 local training centres and colleges.
  • Work with local employers to provide the best possible candidates and deliver the training that meets the needs of their business, whilst ensuring that apprentices placed with them are in a safe working environment and receive appropriate supervision and on-the-job training.

Regional Map GraphicOur model is based on setting National standard via a Regional structure focused on local delivery. Our Operations teams are split into 10 regional teams managed by a Regional Manager. Each team consists of dedicated:

  • trade specific training officers, responsible for ensuring delivery of the framework and achievement by apprentices.
  • Regional Training Centre Co-ordinators who manage our relationships with colleges.
  • Regional Support Officers who provide administrative support and manage key parts of recruitment often including applicant assessment and employer PPV's.

Whilst JTL will help applicants find employment with employers who agree to work with us, it is still up to them to also look for employment with a local company as well. Once they have an employer, their Training Officer will set up their college course and then liaise with their employer and monitor their on-site training. They will ensure that they continue to make progress throughout their four-year apprenticeship and mentor them through every stage.

Training Officer Importance GraphicAll are experienced and technically qualified industry professionals. They appreciate what an employer needs but crucially they were once in the apprentices shoes so they know what it is really like and understand what it takes to make a success of the apprentices career choice.

Our Training Officer have one simple objective. To provide apprentices with long-term career opportunities and do whatever is necessary, supporting them, assessing them, advising them, even cajoling and pushing them when it's needed to make sure they make the best of their opportunities and work towards a successful career.
