Colour Blindness
Entry to the industry is not allowed if you suffer from colour blindness. Unfortunately, if your son or daughter does, we will not be permitted to allow them to take up a JTL apprenticeship. This is a serious safety issue as, given the nature of the work involved, any accidents that could happen, could be lethal.
Once their application has been accepted they must arrange with an optician to have a colour blindness test and provide us with evidence of “absence of colour deficiency” (i.e. a passed colour blindness test). Any optician will be able to conduct this test and provide them with the results. Your child must take this with them to their Initial Assessment. If they do not provide the appropriate evidence they will not be allowed onto JTL's Approved Applicant List and to progress with their application.
