How We Operate
WITH THEM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
JTL manages training; this means we do not actually employ apprentices directly, they are employed as fully salaried members of their employers workforce. Their salary and associated employment costs are paid by their employer; we fund their off-site training and on-site assessment.
What we do for apprentices is:
- Liaise with Government bodies, such as the Learning and Skills Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, to arrange apprenticeship funding.
- Organise and co-ordinate off-the-job training with over 140 local training centres and colleges
- Monitor and assess all on-site training through a structured programme that leads to an NVQ Level 3 qualification
- Work with employers to provide the best possible candidates and deliver the training that meets the needs of their business, whilst ensuring that apprentices placed with them are in a safe working environment and receive appropriate supervision and on-the-job training
At the heart of what we do for apprentices are 185 local Training Officers, covering every postcode in England and Wales, who help co-ordinate everything for your child from day one.
All are experienced and technically qualified industry professionals. Crucially they were once an apprentice themselves so they know what it is really like and understand what it takes for them to be successful.
Their role is to be the link between the apprentice, our partner college and their employer to make sure that they achieve their final goal - an NVQ level 3.
Whilst JTL will help applicants to find employment with employers who agree to work with us, it is still up to candidates to also look for a job with a local company as well.
Once they have found employment, their Training Officer will set up their college course, arrange funding and then liaise with their employer and monitor and assess their on-site training. They will ensure that your son or daughter continues to make progress throughout their four year apprenticeship and mentor them through every stage.
Their Training Officer will have one simple objective. To provide the your child with long-term career opportunities and do whatever is necessary - supporting them, assessing them, advising them, even cajoling and pushing them when it's needed to make sure they make the best of their opportunities and work towards a successful career.
