Looking For a Job?
Start looking straight away

Once they are placed on the JTL Approved Candidate List your son or daughter need to look for an employer who will employ them during their apprenticeship.
It can take quite a while so they need to think about doing this the moment they apply for a place on a JTL apprenticeship. JTL will do all we can to help with finding a suitable employer by circulating their details to all companies in your local area who tell us that they want to take on an apprentice. If they are interested in your son or daughter they will let us know and we will tell them or they may actually contact them direct to arrange an interview.
However, finding a job is down to candidates and as young people cannot start their apprenticeship until they are employed full-time try to encourage your son or daughter not to leave it to JTL as there is no guarantee that we will be able to find them an employer. It is a good idea to get them to help themselves, and show some initiative, by getting in touch with as many local companies as they can.
Make the most of Connexions and their school’s careers tutors. Industry trade bodies could be a good starting point for finding local company details, as is using local directories such as Yellow Pages and don’t forget the local newspapers. And of course, don’t forget the Internet!
