Who Are We?
HELPING YOUR CHILD ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL
JTL was formed in 1990 by the Electrical Contractors' Association and Unite the Union (formerly Amicus) to manage training in the electrical sector. Gaining charitable status in 2000, we grew significantly, expanding into plumbing and related areas.
JTL is now the leading training provider to the building services engineering sector, working with over 3,500 businesses and training more apprentices than anyone else in the sector. JTL currently supports some 10,000 young people across five Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks:
By choosing JTL to provide your child's training, you can be assured that they will receive the best possible support, as you would expect from one of the top three work based learning providers in England & Wales. You also have the reassurance that as a registered charity, every penny we receive is invested into improving training provision for apprentices.
It isn't just that we are the biggest training provider. One of the best reasons to choose a JTL apprenticeship is that your son or daughter is more likely to successfully qualify in their chosen occupation. 70% of the 2,500 or so young people who start an Advanced Apprenticeship each year with JTL will complete it. That's compared to 50% nationally for work-based learning. It's partly because we only accept the best candidates – recently only 10% of all candidates who apply for a JTL apprenticeship have been fortunate enough to secure a place – and partly because we will provide your child with a dedicated Training Officer whose role is to support them every step of the way.
