What are traineeships?

Traineeships are a new and exciting opportunity to help young people aged 16-18 to get ready for a career, providing the foundations for a better future.

Being work-ready opens doors, and provides the skills and confidence you need to take the first step in your career.


JTL's programme includes:

  • Work preparation training (CV writing, interview techniques, job search and vital interpersonal skills)
  • Functional skills (Help to achieve the equivalent of C grade in English, Maths and IT if needed)
  • Four weeks on-site work experience with a local employer
  • Knowledge of relevant industries (e.g. electrical, plumbing) and the opportunities available 
  • Health and safety knowledge, including working at height
  • Fundamental electrical and mechanical principles
  • Essential tool skills, coached both on-site and in our dedicated training centres

Although aimed at the building services industry, JTL's traineeships provide experience and skills to help you apply for any type of work. Those who complete their traineeship will have demonstrated a commitment to themselves and their willingness to work effectively with others, which is sure to be well received by prosepective employers.
