Breaking the Mould
BREAKING THE MOULD
JTL has run various schemes in the past aimed at raising the number of apprentices from under represented groups.
Breaking the Mould was a one off project to improve the employment and training opportunities available to females, aged between 16 and 24, from the South Yorkshire area. It was jointly funded by JTL and the European Social Fund.
With 32 apprentices recruited, it was specifically for women who wanted to embark upon a career in the building services engineering sector via an Apprenticeship.
JTL worked closely with employers in South Yorkshire to encourage them to take on female apprentices, thus 'Breaking the Mould' of the traditional image of electricians and plumbers.
JTL apprentice Liane Bateman and her employer LJ Monk appeared on BBC TV promoting Breaking the Mould.
