Who are JTL?

Helping you achieve your potential

Three JTL People

JTL was formed in 1990 by the Electrical Contractors’ Association and Amicus the union to manage training in the electrical sector. Gaining charitable status in 2000, we grew significantly, expanding into plumbing and related areas.

JTL is now the leading training provider to the building services engineering sector, this is the part of the construction industry that includes jobs such as:

Apprenticeship Options - Choose a trade

Supporting over 9,700 apprentices and 3,500 employers, JTL delivers more apprenticeships in the sector than anyone else; indeed 75% of all electricians who qualify each year do so with our assistance.

It isn't just that we are the biggest training provider. One of the best reasons to choose a JTL apprenticeship is that you are more likely to successfully qualify in your chosen occupation. 7 out of 10 people of the 3,000 or so people who start an Advanced Apprenticeship each year with JTL will complete it. That's compared to 5 out of 10 nationally for work-based learning. It's partly because we only accept the best candidates – recently only 10% of all people who apply for a JTL apprenticeship have been fortunate enough to secure a place – and partly because when you do start your apprenticeship, we are with you every step of the way.
