Chantelle Browne

Chantelle is a first year apprentice and works for Landmarc, a business contracted to maintain the MOD training sites around the country.

After leaving High School, Chantelle had no idea what she wanted to do. She tried Sixth Form but found this wasn’t for her. She went into full time work and had a number of jobs in offices and fast food chains – but none lasted more than a year: “One day I was sitting in my office, tired of being stuck indoors when I decided I had to find something better! I saw an advertisement for an Electrical Apprentice and applied, not really thinking I had much chance. I had no college qualification, I was 22 years old and I was a girl – but here I am and loving it!”

“I really like the idea that with my apprentice I spend one day a week at college – the rest of the time I’m earning money! Every day I look forward to work and I feel I’ve had a second chance at life. I can honestly say it’s the first time I’ve ever felt truly happy.”

What would Chantelle tell a young girl who’s thinking about training as an apprentice: “Go for it! If you want to be an electrician you can make it happen! If I can do it – you can!”
