Rebecca Ashcroft

Leaving school at 16 after achieving her GCSEs, Rebecca spoke to an enlightened careers officer through her high school and was helped towards applying for an electrical apprenticeship.

She started her journey as an apprentice electrician with WT Parkers in Burton-upon-Trent: “I had an interest in a hands on job, not necessarily heading down the University route. But I wanted to do something where I could see a real career path that had a range of opportunities for me.”

Rebecca recently qualified as an Electrician and is looking to progress further in the Building Services Engineering sector.

So what would Rebecca say to a young girl who’s thinking of training as an electrical apprentice: “Don’t be afraid to try something different. Do what seems right for you – not anyone else. I did and it was the best thing I’ve ever done!”
