GCSE results - what next?

20 August 2015     JTL

GCSE results are here, and it’s time for you to decide where the next stage of your education lies. Many will continue on to college or onto A-Levels, while others will enter the world of work, perhaps for the first time.

Here at JTL, we’d like to think we can offer you the best of both worlds, as we give you the opportunity to earn while you learn with one of our high quality apprenticeships.

We’ve got all sorts of work-based learning programmes and services to offer that can be perfect for a young person picking up their GCSE results today, and looking to kick off a career as an electrician, a plumber, or something similar.

We offer advanced electrical apprenticeships, plumbing apprenticeships, heating and ventilating apprenticeships and engineering maintenance apprenticeships, all of which can offer you the perfect starting block for a lifelong career.

Our success rates in apprenticeships are far greater than the national averages, and act as a marker of our 25 years of success in training.

As well as apprenticeships, we offer a range of further work-based learning programmes and opportunities that a young person might be interested in.

Traineeships are an excellent way for young people to get “work-ready”, and open doors to worthwhile careers. JTL’s traineeships programme includes work preparation training, such as CV writing and interview technique practice, alongside on-site work experience, basic tool skills, health and safety knowledge and more.

At the JTL National Centre of Excellence in Birmingham, you can also sign up to one of our full-time courses in building services engineering, which comprise the theoretical side of the JTL apprenticeship programmes. Many young people start with one of these courses before moving towards further vocational learning activities, including apprenticeships.

If you’re based in the Birmingham area, make sure you come along to our GCSE Open Day next Wednesday (26 August 2015). We’ll have plenty of our experienced staff on hand to talk through your options, with the Open Day running from 3pm to 8pm at our National Centre of Excellence, next to Aston University.

On September 2, we’ll also be holding an Open Interview Day at the Centre. For more information, or to book your spot, send us an email at, or pop into the centre and speak to a member of the team.

Best of luck to everyone picking up their GCSE results today – we look forward to speaking to you soon!

It's Thursday 20 August 2015 - GCSE results day
