JTL announces new West Country training centre partnership

14 July 2016     JTL

JTL is delighted to announce a partnership in Yeovil, Somerset with long-established, rapidly growing electrical training business P&R Hurt.

Paul and Rita Hurt, the founders of P&R Hurt, and their team will continue to deliver the Technical Certificate element of the electrical apprenticeship – i.e. electrical theory, science, principles, and technology plus practical skills - where local employers most value their trusted expertise. JTL will concentrate on delivering the other elements of the NVQ – i.e. monitoring and assessment, site visits and appraisals.

To this end, all apprentices and their employers are now transferring to JTL as the managing agent, a role which enables the apprentice to complete the NVQ, something which JTL have an exceptional track record in achieving.

P&R Hurt’s primary Contracting and Hazardous Area Division training centre is not affected by this new partnership. This site will continue to deliver all 10 CompEx units plus the Foundation, Refresher Courses and Ex14 Responsible Persons modules, the only centre in the country to offer all units. P&R Hurt also provide bespoke training and consultation for many companies and organisations, as well as courses for professionals including 17th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations and the EAL and C&G Inspection and Testing courses.

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Hurt said: “We are very pleased to be forging closer links to JTL; they bring a level of quality and success to the NVQ that is the envy of many colleges or training providers. Their completion rates are well above the national average. This combination of the high quality apprentice training P&R Hurt bring to the table, together with JTL’s skills in matching apprentices to employers and supporting them both throughout the apprenticeship should make a winning team.

“This partnership will enable us to develop the training centre and continue to grow the contracting division which works in hazardous areas, as well as commercial and industrial locations.”

Chief Executive of JTL, Jon Graham, said: “This is the latest move by JTL to grow our dedicated training centre locations across England to ensure great training for apprentices who are aiming for a rewarding career in the building services engineering sector. We are looking to increase the numbers of young people training to become electricians, plumbers, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning and maintenance engineers.

“We want to continue to work with our college and provider network nationally where we can be confident of high quality provision. Where colleges can no longer provide this quality training, we will seek to establish permanent facilities to complement the onsite assessment we perform with all our learners. Our new training partnership with P&R Hurt gives us the opportunity to work with an organisation that puts quality at the forefront of everything it does.

“We are delighted to continue to work alongside their existing team to support regional growth in the business and to motivate young people and employers in the Yeovil and surrounding Somerset, Dorset and Devon areas.”
