JTL Apprentice Jonathan Caisley nominated for HIP UK Apprentice of the Year 2018 Award

24 April 2018

JTL Apprentice Jonathan Caisley has made it to the National Finals of the 2018 HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year, having won his regional heat back in January this year. Jonathan was put forward by his tutor John Duggan from Tyne Coast College for his skills, knowledge and understanding of plumbing and heating systems demonstrated over the past two years.

Jonathan is currently completing the first year of his Level 3 apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating at the college which he started in September 2017 after successfully achieving his NVQ Level 2 and Apprenticeship Framework.

His training officer Keith Beavers said “Jonathan is an asset not only to JTL, but Tyne Coast College and his employer, Nu-Heat (North East) Ltd.  He should be proud of his achievements so far, as this is a recognition of all his hard work. I wish him the very best in winning the award next week.”

To win the award, Jonathan must compete against other regional winners from across the UK, carrying out a series of practical skills tests, which include various copper pipe fabrication exercises and installation of such appliances as a boiler, radiator and wash hand basin assessments, which will take place on the 25th and 26th April at the ADEY Conference and Training Centre in Cheltenham.

The prizes up for grabs will be a staggering £9,000 from the competition’s sponsors. Platinum sponsor ADEY alone will give the winner £1,000 in cash and their college £1,000 also, as well as a Magna Clean kit, and the runner-up will receive £500 cash and their college will have that cash matched too. Combine these with the prizes being donated by the gold, silver and bronze sponsors and the amount the winner, runner-up, ‘most improved’ and each finalist will be taking home is going to be spectacular.

JTL wishes Jonathan the best of luck for the 26th April, in winning the HIP Apprentice of the Year.
