04 September 2019     JTL

JTL apprentice Ahmar Iqbal who is currently a 3rd Year Level 3 Engineering Apprentice with the Leeds Teaching Hospital - NHS Trust, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Asian Apprenticeship Awards 2019.

Ahmar is delighted to be shortlisted and is very proud to be working with the NHS: “I am honoured and thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Asian Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Knowing that the work I do has a direct, positive impact on patient care and their quality of life makes me proud to be a part of the NHS… Every day I learn different things and gain a wide breadth of experience and knowledge”

JTL are really thrilled Ahmar is a finalist and we would like to wish him the best of luck. The Asian Apprenticeship Awards aims to showcase the range of talent and hard work within the BAME communities which will be made possible with the contribution of employers and learning providers who share these beliefs. The ambition is that it will become the norm for young people to choose between an apprenticeship or university on an equal basis.  JTL has been highly influential in increasing the numbers of apprentices joining the electrical and heating and plumbing industries from the black, Asian and minority ethnic sectors. For a number of years, we have been running an Ambassador programme to encourage apprentices from under represented communities to enter the apprenticeship field.

The Asian Apprenticeship Awards ceremony is being held on the 31st of October 2019 at the Edgbaston cricket stadium. https://asianapprenticeshipawards.co.uk/
