JTL National Awards Ceremony Preview

17 February 2015     JTL

The Regional Awards have been and gone, the finalists have been named, and we’re ready - it’s that time again: The JTL National Awards are here!

In JTL’s 25th year, Drapers’ Hall in London will host the charitable organisation’s National Awards Ceremony, where the cream of the crop of JTL apprentices are recognised, and one of the seven regional winners will be given the prestigious title of “JTL Apprentice of the Year” for 2015. That will be but one of a number of awards presented during the event, as JTL pay tribute to some of the individuals and organisations they work alongside, throughout England and Wales.

This year’s seven finalists are all electrical apprentices (fear not plumbing apprentices - we’ll have something for you too!), coming from across the country after being named regional winner in their respective areas. Joe Dudley, of Derry Building Services Ltd, and Zak Gates, of IC Electrical Ltd, represent the East and West Midlands respectively, while Jordan Moran, of EEI UK Ltd, represents the North West. London and the East of England regional winner Alexander Turner is also in the running, alongside Luke Batchelar, of PRW Group Ltd for the Southern part of the country, Michael O’Donovan, of T Clarke Plc, for Wales, and last but not least Martin McNiven, of Pennine Environmental Services Ltd, representing Yorkshire and the North East.

With these seven apprentices having picked up their regional title towards the end of 2014, one of them will also pick up the National Apprentice of the Year gong. All of the nominees are either in the process of undertaking their JTL apprenticeship, or will recently have completed it. They are judged on a range of their classroom work, practical abilities and employer feedback, with all of the finalists also interviewed by senior members of JTL staff.

As mentioned earlier, the Apprentice of the Year title is not the only award that will be handed over at the ceremony in London on Wednesday 25 February. Some of the others on offer include Best Short Course Performance through JTL, Best JTL National Traineeship performance, JTL National Plumbing Apprentice of the Year and the award for Employer Commitment to Training.

The ceremony promises to be a fantastic occasion for all involved, so keep your eyes peeled on the JTL website, Facebook page and Twitter account for live updates from the ceremony and reaction from the winners.

Best of luck to everyone involved.

The JTL National Awards ceremony 2014/15 takes place between 12pm and 4pm on Wednesday 25 February 2015 at Drapers’ Hall, Throgmorton Street, London.

The ceremony takes place at Drapers' Hall.
