JTL Southern Apprentice of the Year Awards

19 November 2014     JTL

JTL’s “Awards Season” continues this Friday evening (21 November), with our Southern region Apprentice of the Year 2014 Awards taking place at Tylney Hall, in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

It’s at this time of year when JTL come together to celebrate the success of the best of the best of our apprentices – whether they’re taking an electrician apprenticeship, plumbing apprenticeship, or one of the other work-based learning services that JTL provide.

Former England cricket batsman, captain, and most recently, batting coach Graham Gooch OBE will be the Guest Speaker at the ceremony, in which six of the southern area’s most successful and impressive apprentices will come together with friends, family, employers and JTL staff to celebrate their exploits, with one of them named “JTL Southern Apprentice of the Year 2014” come the evening’s conclusion.

The southern region’s six nominees are made up of five electrical apprentices and a single plumbing apprentice. Matthew Ashby, of the Brighton Dome and Festival Ltd, Luke Batchelar, of PRW Group Ltd, Steven Kemp, of Booker & Best Ltd, Scott Stroud, of Renelec Building Services Ltd, and Tommy Willan, of DMA Mechanical & Air Conditioning Ltd are the electrotechnical apprentices, while James Legg, of AP Chart Building Services, flies the flag for the plumbing industry.

All of the nominees are currently in the process of undertaking their JTL apprenticeship, and have been put forward for the accolade by their Regional Training Officer. Their classroom work, practical abilities and employer feedback are all taken into account before the final decision is made, with the Southern winner going forward as a candidate at the JTL National Apprentice of the Year Awards at Drapers’ Hall in London in February.

Best of luck to all of the candidates involved!
