JTL to open new training centre in Oxford

19 October 2015     JTL

JTL is embarking on an exciting new venture in the provision of a new training centre, based at Culham Science Centre in Oxford. Culham is the home of nuclear fusion research in the UK – the future for nuclear energy worldwide.

The new 8,500 sq. ft. training centre will provide ‘off-the-job’ learning facilities for up to 180 learners in electrical, heating and ventilating, plumbing and engineering maintenance. In addition, it will have its own AM2 Centre – required to enable apprentice electricians to complete their training.

AM2 is the final Assessment of Occupational Competence for individuals wanting to practice as electricians in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

JTL will operate the new centre from a fully refurbished building from early 2016. However, apprentices will commence learning at the Culham site from existing facilities immediately.

Early in the New Year, JTL will also be offering a number of our professional training courses from the centre, in disciplines including the likes of 17th Edition and Inspection and Testing.

JTL’s Business Manager for the Southern region, Mark Syrett, commented on the news, saying: “As a leading provider of specialist training, we have been working with local training outlets to provide the quality of training that employers and young people in Oxford and the surrounding areas deserve.

“We have come to the conclusion that to be an outstanding provider for employers in the area, we needed to have full control and offer exactly what they need; the opportunity to make a massive improvement for Oxfordshire is there for us to deliver.”

JTL's new training facility will be at the Culham Science Centre
