Michael O’Donovan, JTL’s Welsh Apprentice of the Year for 2014, has received further recognition of his good work after picking up the coveted ‘ECA Edmundson Best Apprentice Award’ for 2015.

Michael, 22, was recognised as one of the top electrical and building services apprentices in the country in being named the winner of the coveted prize.

The Cardiff-based electrical apprentice works for leading JTL employer TClarke, and was one of the six finalists at JTL’s National Apprentice of the Year Awards ceremony in February, where he represented Wales.

“It’s an honour for me to receive this award and recognition”, Michael said after receiving his award.

“The training I have received from TClarke has been first class and it’s been a pleasure to represent the company.”

Michael was presented with the award at the 41st ECA Edmundson Awards ceremony, held at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington, London, earlier this month.

Martyn Rogers, JTL’s Regional Business Manager for Wales, said: “Congratulations to Michael. Winning this prestigious award is further recognition of the quality of JTL’s apprenticeship training, and shows how apprenticeships offer exciting career opportunities for young people in Wales and England.”

The ECA Edmundson Awards winners were chosen following a rigorous assessment overseen by an independent panel of judges. Michael overcame strong competition from other high achievers to be awarded the prize.
