JTL's anniversary year comes to an end

23 December 2015     JTL

As we come towards the end of the year, and prepare to welcome in 2016, we’ve taken a look back at just a few of JTL’s highlights from the last 12 months.

To kick us off, 2015 saw JTL celebrate its 25th anniversary. Our infographic, produced earlier in the year to mark the occasion, detailed some of the memorable moments we’ve had since 1990, when the ECA and what is now Unite the Union came together to form the organisation.

We were also delighted to give away a van as part of our anniversary celebrations, with all employers taking on JTL apprentices entered into the draw to win the Citroen Berlingo 1.6 HDi. PK Engineering from Carlisle were drawn out as the winners, and were presented with their van by JTL Chief Executive Jon Graham at JTL’s National Centre in Birmingham in October.

Another big moment for JTL in the last year was the announcement of our partnership with Klein Tools, which will see all new JTL electrical apprentices given a brand new, fully-stocked Klein toolkit. With our already in-place relationship with Monument Tools seeing us provide our plumbing apprentices with the kit they need, the Klein deal keeps JTL perfectly suited to help meet the needs of young people entering into the electrical industry.

2015 also saw an increase in the National Minimum Wage for apprentices, which was good news for JTL learners. Our apprentices now also have the opportunity to get themselves an NUS Apprentice Extra Card, providing them with discounts from a range of high street and online retailers.

We were delighted to announce the opening of our new dedicated training centres in both Norwich and Oxford, providing top quality facilities for our learners, be they apprentices, trainees or individuals taking part in one of our training courses.

We will be announcing news regarding more training facilities in the New Year, so keep your eyes peeled!

Finally, with a small plumbing business owner having achieved his dreams of winning a huge commercial investment to build a new plumbing franchise business from Lord Sugar on The Apprentice this week, we were reminded again of how fortunate we are to work in a sector which continues to offer surprising and great opportunities for so many people.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to JTL over the last year – have a very Merry Christmas, and here’s to a successful, happy and healthy 2016!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from JTL!
