Local MP opens JTL’s latest training centre in Nottingham

On Friday 1st October, JTL, the leading national training provider for electrical and plumbing & heating apprenticeships, invited the MP for Erewash, Maggie Throup, to officially open its new centre in Nottingham.

Maggie Throup MP was joined by local employers, where they were given a tour of the new training facilities which deliver both electrical and plumbing & heating apprenticeships. They also had the chance to speak to current JTL apprentices and trainers to find out more about the wide range of opportunities available to them in the local area.

Following a £1 million investment, JTL has now relocated from Aldercar High School where it started subcontracting to in 2008 and where it later had its own dedicated training area in 2016. The new 9,734 sq. ft. centre in Sandiacre comprises of four modern classrooms and separate fully-equipped electrical and plumbing workshops, as well as a refectory area.

Liam Sammon, Director of Learning and Innovation at JTL, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed Maggie Throup MP to our Nottingham centre and showcase our brand-new facilities. It was fantastic to share the day with local employers too, as we believe it’s important to work collaboratively with these businesses, as we develop their future employees.

“Having had a presence in Nottingham for 13 years, it’s an exciting day to officially open our new centre, which continues to help fill the skills gaps in the traditional trades of electrical and mechanical engineering in the local area. Here at the Nottingham centre, we’re proud to not only be home to 150 learners but we’re also seeing a 30% growth in the number of apprentices this year. We look forward to welcoming more new apprentices and employers in the future”.

Maggie Throup, MP for Erewash, said: “I was delighted to visit JTL’s new state of the art training centre and see first-hand its £1million investment into the future of the local community and beyond. JTL’s brand-new centre will support hundreds of learners across the Nottinghamshire area to gain the skills they need to secure, long-term jobs and to take a step towards brighter futures.”

This facility is the latest in a string of dedicated centres and joint ventures JTL has launched in the last few years. In addition to Nottingham, JTL also has its own centres operating successfully in York, Birmingham, Tankersley, Norwich, Oxford, Yeovil, Orpington, Maidstone, Ashford, Preston and Carlisle.
