National Apprenticeship Week 2015 - preview

09 March 2015     JTL

Throughout this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, running from Monday 9 March to Friday 13 March 2015, JTL will be hosting and organising a range of events to promote and highlight work-based learning opportunities.

Apprenticeships are continuing to thrive in the UK, and as one of the country’s leading providers, JTL understand how useful they can be to help young people get the start their career needs.

Work-based learning also offers employers of any size a fantastic opportunity to expand their business; taking on new staff and having the chance to mould them into the fully-fledged professionals that the building services engineering trades need.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year at JTL, we feel we’re well placed to offer advice and trustworthy information when it comes to electrical apprenticeships, plumbing apprenticeships, engineering maintenance apprenticeships and more. Throughout the first four days of the week, we’ll be holding drop-in sessions at our National Centre of Excellence in Birmingham, where young people and parents in the West Midlands area can come along to find out more about what we have to offer.

The Centre, opened in 2013, currently provides a training base for around 150 apprentices and trainees, and includes a number of workshops for both electrical apprentices and plumbing apprentices, as well as other training areas.

On the Thursday of National Apprenticeship Week, JTL will be teaming up with Lancashire-based radio station Rock FM, again with the aim of highlighting the value and opportunities apprenticeships can bring to the younger generation.

The event will see JTL staff invite a number of youngsters from local schools to take part in a range of activities at the radio station, with JIB Chief Executive Steve Brawley also set to be in attendance.

Throughout the week, keep an eye out too for JTL’s collaboration with electrical wholesaler Newey & Eyre

Customers at branches of the wholesaler across England and Wales will be treated to a sponsored breakfast, while receiving information on apprenticeship developments in the industry, as well as useful advice on further training and development in the electrical profession. The events will be starting early in the morning, running through to 11am. For more details on the locations and venues, find out more here.

We'll also have a blog on Wednesday from JTL Director of Operations Caroline Turner, looking at National Apprenticeship Week and apprenticeships in general, so keep your eyes peeled for that...

These are just some of the things we’ll be up to during National Apprenticeship Week 2015 - keep an eye on the JTL website and the JTL Facebook and Twitter pages for regular updates throughout the five days.
