Peddling to fight pancreatic cancer

22 April 2015     JTL

Employees of Sellafield Limited and their electrical contracting company PPS Electrical are aiming to raise a sizeable amount of money for charity with the “Coast 2 Coast” cycle ride from Whitehaven, in Cumbria, to Tynemouth, in Northumbria. The bike ride is being undertaken in an effort to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, supporting the cause of avoiding and treating pancreatic cancer.

Eighteen staff members will be involved in the event, which will see them covering a gruelling distance of 140 miles. Those taking part include former JTL electrical apprentice Dave Westhead, and Andrew Clarke, who completed his technical skills qualification with the assistance of the electrotechnical industry’s leading training provider.

The cyclists start early in the morning on Friday 24th April and aim to be completed by sundown.

This initiative of the two organisations has come about after a colleague was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014. Since then, the two businesses have made the treatment of the condition a key component of their charitable programmes.

You can show your support for those taking part by sponsoring them for their efforts. Donations can be made by texting BAZH77 to 70070, with the amount of the donation included in the message.
