West Midlands Apprentice of the Year

25 November 2014     JTL

Four electrical apprentices and two plumbing apprentices will vie to be named the West Midlands Apprentice of the Year 2014 in a ceremony at JTL’s National Centre of Excellence in Birmingham tomorrow (26th November) evening.

Former England rugby captain and now Chairman of the RFU Bill Beaumont will be the guest speaker at the event, where JTL staff, employers, apprentices and their friends and family will all come together to celebrate some of the outstanding work done by the young people currently undergoing an electrical apprenticeship or plumbing apprenticeship in the West Midlands region.

Daniel Hall, of Interserve Engineering Services Ltd, and Ian Lambie, of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Ltd, are the two plumbing apprentices who have been nominated for the prestigious award. The four electrical apprentice nominees are Rebecca Ashcroft, of WT Parker Ltd, Daniel Clayes, of Interserve Engineering Services Ltd, Zak Gates, of IC Electrical Ltd, and Christopher Swift, of Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services Ltd.

All six of the nominees have been put forward by their JTL Training Officers after standing out from their peers, and are judged on a mixture of their classroom work, practical abilities and feedback from their employers.

Awards will also be presented to the company deemed JTL’s West Midlands Employer of the Year, and the West Midlands Trainee of the Year; this individual having undertaken a traineeship with JTL.

The apprentice winner will go on to represent the West Midlands region as a nominee in the JTL National Apprentice of the Year Awards in a ceremony taking place at Drapers’ Hall, London, in February.

Good luck to all of the nominees involved!
