Asbestos Awareness

This JTL half-day course will help employers meet their legal obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulation and enable employees to be aware of where asbestos can be found, how and why it is harmful along with the action to take should they come across asbestos. 

Who will benefit:

  • Company Directors/Managers and those persons who are identified as the “duty - holder” therefore regarded as the accountable person for an organisations health and safety system relative to affecting health and safety legislation
  • Those who as a matter of course may unintentionally come into contact with asbestos and/or asbestos containing materials (acm) while conducting their normal work activities and/or tasks on behalf of their employer. 

Course Content

  • The history of asbestos - where it comes from, what it looks like and its uses.
  • Associated legislation – Legal requirements including handling, removal and disposal
  • Notifiable and non-notifiable work – Who can do what with asbestos material
  • Potential hazards – How it harms and how to avoid exposure
